A visual dance through the passion and chaotic perseverance Renato Lainho shoots with. Documental, conceptual, portrait, sports photography, you’ll see a little of each.

Skate isnt just a sport like some think. Its a way of life and a manner to see the world around us in a different way. Where some see too many stairs for their common tired feet, a garbage contender, the stairway leading to the mall, walls, or a place to lay back and relax, skaters find a way to get the best they can and do sometimes beautiful tricks. They dont destroy the city or its urban landscapes, they use it to demonstrate how the world and our way of life can be connected and everyone can get memorable moments. This book contains a lot of those moments, that form the best part of Skateboarding, and I tend to capture them on my photos. A gnarly trick impulses vibes around no matter what, but a good story behind that day, that corner, that light, that skateboarder , maybe sicker. Freedom it’s important on a Skateboarding journey. It’s what we look for, by trying again, by “Ollie”ing unto a dirty sewage ditch, popping up, sliding down, riding around town, skitching on to the back of a bus, facing law forces, dodging common persons, even lacing our shoes the way fits best. Whether it’s white, black, slim or tall, drunk or stoned, goofy or regular, pool shredder or street core, it doesnt matter. We’re all skateboarders wheeling between unavoidable Chaos, whether it’s in the form of board break, blood, beer, unlaced shoes, misplaced rock in your way, broken bones, whatever, we’re ready to take it in and make the most out of our Lives.

My photos are dedicated to all Skateboarders around the Universe.
